Our Wedding Announcement
After Natalie and I were engaged to be married, we thought about who we might get to design our wedding announcements. Natalie wanted me to give designing it a shot. The results are 5" X 7" card designed with InDesign showing here.
We chose the color scheme of the announcement to match our colors that we chose for the wedding reception. The design really captures us as a couple. We both speak Chinese as a second language, and we both have a deep respect and love for the Chinese culture. This shows in the use of our respective surname characters in the top right and bottom left corners.
We live in a physical world, and everything that is abstract has a physical manifestation. As a designer, I believe in capturing the essence and feel of the content, and giving it a visual counterpart. Design is more than just giving a visual element to content. It's about producing an experience, even in something like a wedding announcement. In this announcement, the blue/grey with a slight gradient gives a calming effect to the reader and in a subtle way reflects the calm, mellow nature of our relationship.

Wedding Announcement Insert
I also designed the insert that went with the announcement. Essentially a redesign to fit a 3" X 2.5" card, I included a lot of the same elements from the announcement and used a different photo.
